I've never really had any bookends, I've seen decorative ones that I've liked sometimes but never gotten around to buying them. I either had enough books to fill the shelf that the sides of the shelf kept them upright or I just put the stockier books at the end of the row to hold them upright or used a heavy vase or something next to them. But a while ago I was having problems with the children's books, they are mostly hard covered and heavy and all different sizes and when they take one off the shelf the others all fall across so they can't put it away again so I decided it was time to buy some bookends. When I looked on Amazon they had packs of basic bookends for a relatively cheap price so I bought a pack of them,
I have no idea how I ever managed without them. I use one every few books, not just at the two ends. So now when they take a book out only a few can fall over and it's easy for them to put the book away again. The books are much neater and it feels so much safer because a big stack of books falling onto a child's hands could do some damage. But not only have I found them useful for the children but I used them for my books, then I realised that they could hold up my stacks of craft paper, separate my yarn on the shelf, hold my folds of fabric upright. Even when they are not needed for holding things up they still make a visual separator on the shelf. I wish I'd figured them out sooner.
And so I was wondering what useful things have others found that help with their crafting?
What fab ideas. Thank you so much for sharing. x
Crafty Nannie, the bookends I bought don't take up any space they fit invisibly between the books. They are like these on Amazon I put them between the books every six books or so then when you remove a book only the other five can fall into the space and it's easy to fit the book back in and all the books stand up straight rather than lean to the side. They are like the ones they use in libraries
I love that idea. I don't think i possess a single mug tree but when I saw that silver one you have with the little silver ball at the end of each branch.. I have a tree ornament thing I bought years ago when we owned a chocolate store, that is very similar. I used to hang these little foil covered chocolates we sold on it.... I still have it and don't really do anything with it but it would be great in the craft room for tape and ribbons
I do love useful ideas ladies thank you for sharing , I used to use book ends but these days have too many books to allow 🤣
love the mug rack ideas I could certainly copy that idea Carolyn with the tape storage ideas , I am not much of a jewellery person , but super inspiration.
I'm a big fan of mug trees 😀. I must have half a dozen. I hang my jewellery on most of them and rolls of tape and ribbon on my craft table. I've even got one in the kitchen with mugs on!
