Because the temperatures have dropped and we are now getting heavy frosts today I picked the two Loofahs ready for drying. I’m quite pleased with how big they have grown. In warmer countries they grow much bigger but I think this is not bad for growing in the UK.
If anyone has advice on drying I would appreciate it. There is conflicting information for the UK on the internet. Some say peel when green and then let dry. Others say dry and then peel. I guess I could always do one, one way and the other, the other way.
How interesting….fascinating actually…😃
Wow....they look great. x
Well done, my husband was trying to grow gourds but the ground hogs and deer ate every single one so what can you do, I suppose to them it was food and me a decorations so their needs were greater 😂 I do have some from last year still though so all good, I would do the same as Linda says, just leave them to dry somewhere sunny
Loofa is in the same family as the hard shell gourd, so I would let it dry in the sunniest place you have hanging up in the conservatory would be good, when it’s gone brown and very light in weight then peel it. You should have a nice fibrous Lula. Xx
Well done , sorry I can’t help you with advice , look forward to seeing them dried
