I did two wildlife rescues yesterday, the second rescue was a giant bumblebee just crawling along the conservatory floor so I got him to get on to a coaster and carried him out the door and put him on a flowering bush. But my number one rescue of the day was a greater spotted wood pecker, he flew in to the conservatory and banged his head a bit dazed he sat for a moment as he had forgetter which way was out so I took a photo then I gently got hold of him and put him out side underneath a bush after ten minutes he regained his composure and flew off.

The greater spotted wood pecker has a white patch on the shoulders, a lesser spotted wood pecker has white barbed lines all the way down it’s wings.
Wonderful -and how privileged you were! The woodpecker is beautiful, and the flowering bush was just right for a confused bumblebee!
