This is the King and the cat from my Amigurumi Kingdom book, there are loads of other characters that I'm hoping to slowly work my way through. They were very detailed and each detail was done in a different way than other Amigurumi figures i'd done before so I've learn a lot of new tricks. The yarn I used for the kings face and bald head looks pale but in this photo even paler, I have ordered a different yarn in a slightly darker colour for the others as it's hard to see the difference between his face and his moustache and beard. Each character has a little crocheted base so they stand up easily. The king is about 4 inches high with his crown.

They are fab. I love them. x
Thank you š
Thy're pretty neat!
They look great š
Yes it is in American terminology. The book says they used, and each pattern recommends, Schachenmayr Catania originals, 100% cotton 50g/125m, 5 ply sportweight which Iāve never heard of that brand I just used a sport weight cotton that Iāve used before and already had in a lot of colors the extra that Iāve ordered for a better skin tone is normal crochet thread in size 3 Iām hoping itās the same size because I couldnāt get 2. Also I noted in that paragraph of the book she called sport weight 5 ply but on the same page is a chart where they say sport weight is 4 ply The hook they recommend is E4 to 7 (3.5mm to 4.5mm) I like a smaller hook for amigurumi to make it neat and so the stuffing didnāt poke through so I used B 2.25mm which is why my king is quite a bit smaller than they say it will be in the book but I like the small size.
Can you tell me the yarn thickness and the hook size also is it in American terms. Xx
You are right you could make a lovely fun chess set out of the pieces. The only problem was I ended up buying more yarn when I was hoping to use up some yarnš
I do like them very much, I have looked at the book kingdom Amigurami I, and thought that there are characters in the book that would make a colourful chess set. So I went and ordered the book. Your little characters really inspired me thanks . Xx
