I bought this chair about 7 years ago. I bought it for Tom because he is tall 6'4'' and most chairs don't really fit his height. He used it for a few years and then he got back ache and bought a chair that was more designed to help with his back ache since he is sat in the chair all day when he works from home. My computer chair at the time was great but it had no arms and was perfect as a sewing chair, I was using a dining chair as a sewing chair, so I put the dining chair back in the dining room and took my computer chair as a sewing chair and took Tom's chair as my computer chair. It was ok for a while but then as it got older the leather which was just bonded leather started peeling off and there was constantly bits of black leather all over the place, it would stick to your feet and get trailed all around the house, so annoying. Tom suggested I get rid of it and buy a new chair but buying chairs can be difficult, so few stores locally sell them to try them out so you mostly have to buy online so who knows if they are comfortable for you so I decided to stick with this one.
FIrst I spent about an hour peeling off as much of the leather as I could to minimise how much could come off in the future, I used a stiff rubber brush to do it and it worked pretty well.
Then I made the black and white spotted seat and back rest cover with some batting inside for extra cushioning, I already had both the fabric and batting so it helped use up some of my stash. When I sat in it though because I'm a lot shorter than Tom I always used a cushion or the arm rests are too high so I made a cushion out of the left over fabric from some curtains I made a while ago. The only thing I did buy was some new arm rest covers, they are a slip on cover for each arm rest with some memory foam in to make the arm rests a bit more padded they were under $10 so all in all a lot cheaper than a new chair. It's not perfect but it's also only in my office which is upstairs so it doesn't have to be super smart.
I took out the backgrounds from the photos because all the things on my desk and the bookcase were too distracting in the background to focus on the chair so my apologies for the weird floating chair look.
🤩 Wow! That is SO impressive! Fantastic work, Sarah!
