I have made that mistake in the past with paper journals linda , you can cut the spine out of the middle and make a new one using cereal box packaging,then cover in fabric or lace .

That looks great love the stitching, what different ideas people have I wish some others would join in. I really am enjoying sewing again. That’s my mistake I haven’t quite made my cover wide enough I will have to join another cover with my one.
