I am thinking of making a quilt using this method. I am a beginner and its a long project so before I start I was wondering if anyone has done this and if you had any advice on what equipment to buy that is actually useful rather than me buying stuff and not using it. I was thinking of using 1 inch Hexagons. Any advice/tips are most welcome.
Thank you
Thank you everyone for all the lovely comments and useful tips. I am going to bore you all silly next year with progress. It will be the longest project I have tackled so I just hope I keep going with it. x
That’s great info from MT , I forgot about the patchwork mag , I have bought it many years ago . My patchwork has always been freestyle but the mag gives inspiration I have done several quilts and advise quilt as you go method unless you have a long arm quilting machine Sally Ann .
There are a couple of mags in the UK too.
SEW has a free download at
Classic Patchwork Pack - Magazine Templates - Sew Magazine
and pocketmags.uk
has a free digital sample issue of Popular Patchwork if you open an account (free) which you can read online - or print out once you have mastered the site!!
Good luck!!
😊
sorry I think i live in the home of quilting land here, There are several quilting groups and all the craft stores have huge sections for quilting but although I do like sewing I'm just not interested in making quilts myself so I've never done it. I will have a look out for a magazine on the subject (they also have big sections on quilting magazines here) and I'd be happy to send it to you if I find one.
Never done paper piecing sally Ann , unfortunately our expert Mary died a couple of years ago . I do miss her still . , you might find clues on YouTube
