I'm still not a fan of the granny square look but I like how you have used thinner yarn in the centre to make it look lacy and the flower is a nice touch

I had forgotten to post Aurin's snake, which is what started Alia off on her monkeys. The snake is almost 6' long and has a bit of soft tie wire used for plants usually it's coated with a soft coating and I put it just in the head and about down the body about 1' so that it could pose with the head lifted up.
Thanks for all the lovely comments ladies, he does like his snake, when I gave Alia her monkey last week he said in a small voice that he wished he's bought his snake with him, I think he was feeling a bit jealous but knew he's already had the snake, now I'm worried because Alia wanted a family of monkeys so I think I'm going to have to crochet him something else

I have had so much trouble making Alia's monkeys, the first pattern I tried I had struggled through, making most of the pattern up myself, I had done the body, arms and legs and I got to the head and the pattern just totally did not work, I could not figure out a way of doing what I was seeing in the picture. I realised eventually it was an AI pattern and completely unworkable. I gave in rather than try to do it myself I had spent three weeks on it so i just got a different pattern. It's hard to tell from the picture but there is a lot of needle modelling done to shape the face. Alia has already taken the monkey home so I can't get a better picture. I'm most of the way through with the 'mommy' monkey though so I will try to take better…
Thanks for all the nice comments, I'm almost done with the mom monkey she is a lighter colour and that made her so much easier, chenille yarn is a little difficult to work with sometimes

I have finished Tommy Brock from the tales of Peter rabbit. I embroidered the face instead of doing intarsier crochet for the black stripes it was easier to crochet the head in white then embroider the stripes on the head . I must confess I still have the other black stripe to embroider will do that tomorrow .
