Last year I gave myself a personal challenge to try and use as much of my existing craft/sewing supplies as possible rather than keep buying new stuff. My 2 reasons for doing this were:
Environmental - goes without saying
I have enough stuff in the craft room and whenever anything new is brought in, it involves a major move round of everything each time, this is because I like everything in its place, organised and tidy. I hate sewing/crafting in an untidy/unorganised environment.
I did really well and compared to previous years bought very little. All I had to do was for each project was to consciously make the time and effort to look through what I had. Looking back through my projects from the last year, I would say I was able to complete 90% of them using stuff that I already had. As a result I can honestly say that when I have bought or been given something, I enjoy and appreciated it much much more. In fact I enjoyed the whole process so much I am going to continue into 2024.
