Started an altered book yesterday and I removed pages intermittently then glued some together to make sleeves , I then added pockets to the other pages and finally filled it with papers for crafting . My dilemma is how should I secure the bulky altered book now as it’s so bulky and I need it to open fully to access pockets , originally I thought the idea Lisa had was a way forward ( remember her organiser ) but I had already installed pockets so help. I have taken some pics to see what ideas you come up with , it’s a bit too fat for just ribbon closure
The 3rd pic best shows the extent of book when I try to close it .
Thanks maritrez all ideas are welcome
Bit late, 'cause now 've seen your next post- but I had a situation similar to this and what I did was separate the pages, punch holes in each one and put them into a ring binder - suitably redecorated front and back.
Bit of a cheat, I know... but worked for me!
After sleeping on this dilemma I am thinking of doing two things , cutting the spine and adding a craft- tex spine to open the spine up and maybe a leather throng closure . Not tried either before . Ordered craft-tex from Amazon . Button and elastic closure is my other thought Carolyn but spine biggest problem . thank you for all the help , won’t make this mistake again lol 😆
You could make a separate band to close it, with a button on one end and elastic on the other x
I normally add ribbon to mine each side and tie in a bow.x
Must admit I have never made one of these. Could some flaps be incorporated to the front or back so that it covers the long side to prevent bits falling out and then done up with a ribbon. I'm not explaining it very well but I have attached a link on a pinterest picture that I have found. Please delete link if not allowed https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/297730225342014815/
It’s not really thing to be honest I don’t do a lot of paper crafting but I was thinking could you not remove the spine and attach a wider one possibly with folder rings attached.
