A bit more chaotic but the bag is taking shape. I am using some cotton canvas that I got from Spoonflower in a beautiful water colour pattern and the base, flap over one zipper and the strap which I haven’t made yet are pink cork. Yes cork! It’s a completely sustainable product. The trees are left to grow the cork for the first forty years and then the cork is harvested by local men with special knives, no trees are harmed and no big machinery is used. The trees are then marked with the date, and the cork grows back from the inside out so that date can be seen and so they know not to harvest the tree for another nine years. The job of harvesting the cork pays well so the local workers thrive in their community near to where they work.
I have the children for the next few days so Day three won’t be for a while.
Thank you everyone. I’m so pleased with how the cork worked out
