I have just been to my friend up the road who comes from Bangladesh. We did cooking together and she made Jalebis and parathas for me showed me how to cook them. For the jalebis (an Indian sweet.). She mixed flour and water and a bit of salt to make a batter using an icing bag she spun the batter around in hot oil cooked them both sides till they were golden then dipped them in boiling hot sugar , saffron and red food colouring . and water, let the sugar and water cool down first dipped in the jalebis and they were so good this is how they turned out.
The other plate is parathas that I could have with a mild curry. I used to have all this Indian food years ago and now I can make them myself.
Indian sweets are to die for! 😛
I am putting on pounds just thinking about them!
Lucky you!
As you like to cook your new friend will enjoy sharing her ideas with you .
The food looks lovely and it’s good to have a change of menu .
Wow. Thats great Linda. So kind of your friend to show you how to make them. They look delicious. X
Yes parathas are a flat bread, I like stuffed parathas they are stuffed with mashed potatoes. Then cooked on a hot Scillet .
That is a bit like funnel cake except funnel cake is not dipped into boiling sugar they just put lots of powdered sugar on as soon as it comes out of the fryer. They are very good. Is parathas like naan? I feel like I’ve had it because I remember the name. There is an excellent Indian restaurant very close to where I live and they do a selection of Indian breads as one of their sides so I probably had it with that just don’t remember which one it was. An excuse to order from there again soon I think 😂. Thanks for sharing and how nice of your friend to show you how to make them.
