Crab apple jelly made in the duo pot
I am so proud of myself, my crab apple jelly is made and has set. my recipe, yesterday I washed , top and tailed and cut in half the crab apples, filled the duo pot half way up , put in 3cups of water and cooked for 12 minutes. Poured the contents in to a jelly bag hanging over an upturned small table with a container underneath to catch the juice left over night and this morning I had 2pints of juice. poured juice back in to duo pot , and for every pint of juice I added 300 grams of sugar. Set pot to sauté stirred the sugar to dissolve and boiled it for 25 minutes. I had a sugar thermometer in the pan and it was at 220 degrees after the25 minutes. so poured into my sterilised jars. Cost of making this crab apple jelly was 8 pence as I checked the smart meter before and after I finished.

The left over crab apple jelly in the jug I am going to have on toast this morning when it’s cooled down.
Although pride is sometimes a sin, I think it justifiable in this instance.
I am well impressed, Linda!
