I thought the Western European honey bee ( apis milifera) was native to Britain. But it is not. The British black honey bee is. It was thought to be extinct but has now been found in wales. There is now a project going on to save the native British black bee. I bought black bee honey and it is said to have more health benefits that the Western European honey bee.
