The black bumble bee is nesting in our poly tunnel, she has chosen the right place as hopefully she will have babies that will pollinate our crops of tomatoes , cucumbers, peppers, and the crops out side. You can see the hole she is digging, and wiggling back wards taking out the soil. It’s fascinating to watch her. Just out side the poly tunnel we have a hedge of black thorn, this hedge is in bloom with white flowers, that in September will give us sloes. The two plum trees are blooming so she may venture as fas as the orchard. We have named her black georgette. 😁 I have sent to friends of the earth for a bee kit, which has in it an identification chart, wild flower seeds and many other things. I will blog about her progress in futre blogs.
The black bumble bee.

We get huge carpenter bees here, they can be a nuisance as they bore big holes in wood. I did once find a black wasp, looked exactly like a wasp except it was completely black, the stripes differentiated between because they were some matte and some shiny, it was weird and I've never seen another one.
Very interesting , I never knew you got black bumble bees linda ,
mind you I don’t like insects so never bothered to learn anything about them ,
insects are my phobia .
Oh -well spotted, and lucky you, Linda!
I'm suffering from a little bit of Black Bumble Bee Envy here!
