I've made my own firelighters out of egg boxes, newspaper and candle wax (I use the end bits of burnt down candles).
To make them, I first melt the candle wax by putting the wax in a container and then put the container into a saucepan with hot water. Whilst the candle wax is melting I scrunch up newspaper and put it in the egg boxes quite tightly.
I then poured about a table spoon of melted candle wax over each small section. Once dried (which only takes a few minutes) I cut the box up into its sections.
I then wrapped each cut section in another piece of newspaper and put them all in a basket ready for lighting the log burner.
This is good for recycling and for saving money.

Good idea for our fire pit!
Another use for our leftover wax melts!

Great idea sally- Ann , been thinking of using my open fire again
Great idea, we've just had a wood burner installed and I like the idea of making our own firrelighters.
Great recycling Does the wax not make a mess of the log burner? We do have a fire place but we don’t use it are fire lighters expensive we were wondering if it might not be cheaper to use the fireplace
Good idea and they look good sitting in a basket on the hearth.
Fantastic idea .
