I picked Kentish cob nuts off my tree as I had seen the squirrel run across to the orchard he had had his fair share so I went and picked the rest, left them in the conservatory for a few days to dry on a tray then yesterday shelled them . Today I roasted them for four minutes in the instant pot air fryer lid sterilised the jar and put them in stacked to the top then poured over honey screwed on the lid and I have preserved cob nuts to put with ice cream or have with breakfast cereal . Or keep for Christmas to go with a special desert.
I had a jar of these preserved cobnuts which I made three years ago, as honey never goes off, my sister took the jar home and has them with her cereal they are as nice as the day they were made she says.
I shall buy some cobnuts from the local farm and make some more preserves even cob nut fudge ect.
I ended up roasting them in the Ninja for a few minutes and made the mistake of trying one. It was so delicious they never made it into fudge or biscuits. I put them in a large bowl mixed with raisens and saltanas for snacking on.
Poor little squirrel 🐿️ 🥲😢😭
Lucky sister! 👍
They sound very nice.x
Well done both linda and sally- Ann , you do a great job
Well done for outsmarting the squirrel. We picked ours quite a while ago as the squirrels were already at them. They are still sitting on the windowsil. I must get cracking in the next few days and get on with making some fudge or biscuits. x
